The introduction of five pence and ten pence – coins starts to trouble minds. Dermatologists have stated that the coins might have negative effects on the skin of some people. The coins consist of elements which could cause irritation to the skin. The coins are originally made from steel, but they are plated in nickel. This differs from the coins which are used nowadays. The current coins consist of 75% copper and just 25% nickel. This change in the coins could cause problems for some people who have eczema. Also people with nickel allergies might encounter problems.
I actually think this is somewhat amusing, just because it is ironic. Who would expect coins to be bad for your health? When making coins, the first thing you might think of that may be discomforting would be the size, the weight or the color. I have never stopped and thought: I will not touch this coin because it might be bad for my skin. On the other hand it is a serious matter, because it can cause problems for some people. This should not be neglected and the coins should be revised.

Never heard of this before, but how can you avoid toucing coins, especially if you are working in a shop, you have to touch coins all the time. I also do not think that it will harm you that bad, I mean you're not walking all day with coins in your hand, so holding it for five seconds will not hurt you.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI agree with Esra. I don't think that it is that bad for your skin. If it is that bad as they, they should get rid of these coins. They have to get new coins that has no harm to your skin.
